North Sydney- Fire Services

The Cape Breton Regional Municipality Fire Services consists of a mix of career and volunteer services spread throughout the municipality. The service is dispatched through the Enhanced 911 system from the Regional Communications Centre.

North Sydney- Health Services

Cape Breton Healthcare Complex is an amalgam of four Cape Breton community hospitals serving a population of 160,000 with a 150 medical staff and 500 beds. The Cape Breton Regional Hospital opened in February 1995 and is the major referral center for Cape Breton Island. The Complex is a unique mix of hospitals and long term care facilities anchored by the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney which is the major service provider and referral centre for Cape Breton Island.

Community based hospitals and long term care facilities in North Sydney, New Waterford, Glace Bay and Sydney Mines, provide an additional range of services to patients and residents. These hospitals compliment the overall level of care available throughout the Complex. The four hospitals are: 1. Northside HarbourView Facility 2. Cape Breton Regional Facility 3. Glace Bay Healthcare Facility 4. New Waterford Consolidated Facility

Library Services- Wilfred Oram Centennial Library
